Jealous? Who Me?

Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

As I continue my study through Isaiah and see how low Isreal fell and their subsequent punishment. I have no jealousy for what the wicked of this earth do or accomplish.

Isreal was not ashamed of their sin. They were bold with it. Their sins in the Lord's were no small sins and they were sinning constantly without repenting, or if they repented it was ritualistic. Some of us fall into that trap, where we ask for forgiveness and go and keep doing the same thing we've done before making no attempt to change.

For the look on their faces bears witness against them;

they proclaim their sin like Sodom;

they do not hide it

(Isaiah 3:9)

As I live, declares the Lord GOD, your sister Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it. Samaria has not committed half your sins. You have committed more abominations than they, and have made your sisters appear righteous by all the abominations that you have committed.

Ezekiel 16:48-51

(ESV)

Because of their sins against the Lord they had brought about their own downfall. They had a price to pay for their ways.

But the Lord has already given assurance to the righteous people living in Judah that He is still there and every thing will be ok with them.

They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.

We today can take solace in that fact that even through our sufferings and the evil in the world our Lord is there still and all will be well. As the psalmist says:

 Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD,

who walks in his ways!

You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;

you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

Psalms 128:1-2

(ESV)

But the wicked shall have their day of reckoning. So we the righteous should not look upon the wicked and see be jealous or envious of what they are doing.
